Family Mart Christmas Shopping in OKC

Family Mart is a ministry that is organized by Crossings Community Church each year for children of single parent households.

This is how it works:

  1. Parents arrive at 2208 W. Hefner Road (between May and Penn) with their children on December 1, 2012 between the hours of 1:30pm and 3:30pm
  2. Kids get partnered with an adult and are given play money to shop with.
  3. The kids get to wrap presents as well and if they run out of “cash” they can make a craft present.
  4.  During the shopping, adults meet other single parents while playing bingo and enjoying a cake walk for prizes.

This event is free and is organized for children ages 4 to 16 years of age.  Your child could get extra “money” if you bring in wrapping paper, tissue paper, tags, gift bags, bows etc.  Everything helps.

I want to let you know that I (Princess Karen) am a single parent and I took my children to this last year.  They left with a HUGE box of things to give to me, their father, their grandparents, etc.  These are presents that children are proud to give out and presents you would actually like to receive.  While they were shopping I was having a nice time with the other parents participating in the cake walk, eating cookies and playing bingo.  It is an enjoyable time and I highly recommend you to go if you are a single parent.

(Thanks Arise Ministries for letting us know about this – Check out their Single Mom Conference also)
