Oklahomans need to check any cups of shells and cheese in their pantries to make sure the food isn’t part of a nationwide recall.

The possible presence of small, thin, wire bristle pieces in macaroni and cheese cups has prompted Kraft Foods Global Inc. to voluntarily recall three varieties of Velveeta Shells & Cheese single-serve microwaveable cups.

About 137,000 cases of the cups included in the recall were shipped to customers across the United States, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration news release.

Only certain packages with March, April and May 2012 dates are in the recall. Customers can find the “best when used by” date on the bottom of thepackage.

Velveeta Shells & Cheese Original Microwaveable Cups, the 2.390-ounce cup dated May 16, 2012.

Velveeta Shells & Cheese Original Four Pack Microwaveable Cups, all 2.39-ounce cups dated April 24 to May 16, 2012.

Velveeta Shells & Cheese Made with 2% Milk Microwaveable Cups, all 2.19-ounce cups dated March 25 to March 30, 2012.

Velveeta Shells & Cheese Made with 2% Milk Four Pack Microwaveable Cups, all 2.19-ounce cups dated March 29 to April 12, 2012.

Velveeta Rotini & Cheese Broccoli Microwaveable Cups, all 2.44-ounce cups dated April 29 to May 14, 2012.

If you have the products, return them to the store where you bought them for an exchange or full refund. If you have questions, call Kraft Foods Consumer Relations at (800) 308-1841 Monday through Friday.

There have been no reports of consumer complaints, according to Kraft Foods.
