If you have friends or family members stationed overseas or deployed, this post is for you! Check out Easy DIY – Military Care Package Ideas below!
I got the idea of decorating a shipping box last Christmas, while planning a care package to send my brother, who is stationed overseas. We decided upon a Christmas tree and just hot glued it to the actual box.
I did find a great unfolding shoe box, of which I was able to fold back up and pack the gift inside! This was a Saucony box from some shoes we’d gotten previously. The kids had a blast decorating the box and making it special.
I would definitely recommend hot glue rather than school glue. You don’t want the project to come apart. The kids used glue sticks and I went back over it, dotting with my glue gun. 😉
- Glue gun
- Hobby Lobby boxed confetti or Dollar Tree confetti (find in store near paper crafts)
- Glue sticks and markers
- Shoe box (preferably a fold together one)
The other idea doesn’t even involve a store trip! Just save boxes from Bath and Body Works, or any fun shipping box you end up with.
Note: You can always hot glue heavy weight scrap book paper to the inside of any shipping box for a custom gift box. It shouldn’t change the shipping price much at all.
- Decorative Box
- OR Hot glue gun and heavy weight scrap book paper
Our box at Christmas was a huge hit and I plan to decorate any more care package boxes we send. Thanks for reading!
Dollar Tree now participates in ibotta! Although Dollar Tree doesn’t usually carry a lot of name brands we can still use the rebates to save. Most of the offers for Dollar Tree are generic, meaning they’re good on ANY brand. For example, 20¢ off ANY dish soap or 20¢ off ANY cereal. No matter what brand your store carries you’ll still be able to use the rebates 😉
Did you know you can shop Dollar Tree online and get FREE shipping with in-store pickup? Check it out HERE.
Be aware that there are minimum purchase quantities on most items when ordering online. BUT if you were gonna stock up anyways …
