Check out the SureFire Sidekick Flashlight
If you are familiar with my blog, you know we live in central Oklahoma. This part of the country is known for its storms and especially tornadoes, so we keep our storm shelter clean and ready to go this time of year. One essential in our storm shelter is a trustworthy and bright flashlight!
This flashlight was originally produced for military and law enforcement use. SureFire products are now available to the public for sale, so we can get these quality flashlights for our home use. Even better, you can get this SureFire Sidekick Flashlight for 50% off! Just use coupon code below. But act now because there are only a limited supply available with the coupon code.
The SureFire Sidekick is of amazing quality, and more reliable than the bargain brands we may see at the checkout aisle or dollar stores. It’s important to me to have supplies that I can rely on and will last many hours or even days if our power is out.
Emergency Storm Shelter Kit Check List
One thing I wanted to share with my readers is a good checklist of things to have in their storm shelter. We keep all these supplies either in the storm shelter, but you can keep them in the garage ready to go with you at a moment’s notice. The flashlights are the one thing you do not want to compromise on, if you must rely on your storm shelter.
In the event of a power outage, it’s tempting to use your smartphone flashlight to light the way. However, this can waste valuable battery life, and we do not want our phones dead during a major storm! We try to preserve our phone battery for emergency calls, and sometimes we are out of power for a long period of time before it comes back on and we can plug the phones in! Did you know the light on your smartphone is only 1% compared to the light coming out of the Surefire Sidekick? Also using your smartphone light for long periods of time can make your phone hot! So, a flashlight and weather radio are at the top of my check list.
If we know a storm is heading our direction, a good habit to get into is to plug all those devices in and let them charge up. I still forget to do this sometimes! Here is our Storm Shelter Kit Checklist:
- Battery operated weather radio
- Reliable flashlight like the SureFire Sidekick
- Water bottles
- Pillow and Blanket for each person
- Dog harness/leashes (or portable pet crate if your pet would do better in an enclosed environment)
- Individually wrapped snacks (we take peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers etc)
- Tablets (if applicable)
- Any required medicines you must have (insulin, etc)
- Hand sanitizer
- Stocked diaper bag, if applicable
- Bathroom supplies, as applicable for small children. We recommend a 5 gallon bucket from your local hardware store and a bottle of VIP-Poo( you just never know)
- Charged battery packs.
