I originally came up with this idea in my quest for Holistic Pet Care from Steph Van Rossum (fb won’t let me tag), as she gave me the idea as to something similar she does for her ratties! I use a lot of Holistic Pet Care recipes for my little ones.
The more you knead the little snack balls, the harder they will become. I did not bake these, they are raw. You can make whatever size fits for you and your babies! Honey is extremely resilient when it comes to being unrefrigerated. I would not leave these out of the fridge, however, for more than a week. Storing 5-7 days in an airtight container should be fine, though! I love how small these are because it makes them easier to store plus, these are meant to be a snack so I don’t have to worry about feeding them to much.
These snacks are great for outdoor trips, in the car, traveling, or anytime in general!
I used the Better Body Coconut Flour and honey. Any brand will work just fine, though! As always with honey, raw honey (or Manuka honey) is a huge bonus for health benefits! You can find these in your local store but you can also find these products online as well. My little Pasta loves these and I am sure your little ratties will love them too. Pasta has been a joy since she came home at a tender 2 and 1/2 weeks old. She was severely ill and the runt of her litter. With love, wholesome, homemade nutrition, and various conventional medication initially, she is a healthy, strong girl today! ~Brandi
