Oklahoma WILL NOT be getting National Black Friday Deals – READ THIS!

November 16, 2012 by Consumer Queen 10 Comments

According to Oklahoma law we will not be getting the same deals on Black-Friday as the rest of the nation. This is due to a law that was made back in 1949. The attorney General reviewed this law last December and approved it again! The law prohibits any retailer from selling items below cost. So for example, while the rest of the nation will be getting a Walmart TV in the ad for $149 and our price will be $210 thats a $61 difference!

So what do you think about this? We want your feedback!

This is rediculous!! I planned my trip to Walmart off of one ad and the next day it was different!! $70 higher! I talked to a friend who is a district manager and he told me about the law. Said they are working to get it changed and it will hopefully get it changed by next year. So in the meantime, if you have a lot of these deals you are purchasing, may be worth a trip to Dallas!! In my opinion, they should have given giftcards back for the difference. I think they can do that since they aren’t technically selling the item for under cost, they are just giving additional money to spend in store.

I don’t live in Oklahoma, but that absolutely stinks! I think they’re afraid to lose out on taxes. Boo.

This is wrong and should be repealed. We need to make a petition to repeal this law! How stupid!

I think Oklahoma is going to miss out on a lot of revenue generated by sales tax.. this could hurt..

That would really bite. If I lived close the state line I would be crossing over to go shopping.

Does it make a difference if you buy the black Friday deals online? Will we still have to pay more?
