You may have read my last post about The Royal Dogs switching to “Grain Free” dog food. We made this decision after making the decision to change our own diet and then doing a little bit of research on our own. You see dogs in the wild don’t eat a lot of carbohydrates. They are carnivores. They eat mostly protein (meat) but they do eat some other things in their diet like plant matter. Most cheap commercial dog foods have a lot of grains as part of the ingredients because let’s face it, they are cheap fillers. Unfortunately most grains like corn or wheat which are hard for your dogs to digest. What happens is these cheap fillers just turn to sugar in your dogs blood and can also irritate your dogs tummy.
Before we started feeding our dogs a grain free food like Wellness, Isabella (Izzy) would get really red and rashy on her tummy and I could hear her tummy just gurgle which often led to well…. horrible gas. You can imagine how unpleasant that was for both of us. She just wasn’t acting like herself.
Wellness® Core Dry Dog Food for small breed is grain free and has optimum protein and calorie levels to help support small breeds who have higher energy needs. It’s made from turkey, chicken, salmon oil and fruits and vegetables. All the things Izzy needs in her diet. Right now there is a $3.00 coupon forWellness® Core Dry Dog Food which makes it that much sweeter to switch. Just print the coupon and take it your local PetSmart to try out your first bag. So how did the Royal Dogs like Wellness Core Grain Free Dog Food? Well, you will have to wait till my next blog post to find out.
