Pasta’s Super Chow Rat Food

Rat Recipe: Pasta's Super Chow

  • 1 potato
  • 1/4 cup carrots
  • 1 clove garlic chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups leafy green mix I use spinach, kale, and swiss chard all mixed together -- NOTE: I don't know how common it is in rats compared to dogs getting crystals and stones, however, if you have a rat with known oxalate issues, either use less or substitute for another veggie
  • 1 whole boneless skinless chicken breast (if you have rats that are older, or you do not feed them meat at all, please omit, it will not hinder the recipe in any way, it will just have less protein)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped onion causes hemolytic anemia in dogs, however, to my understanding, onions are not going to do any harm to rats. They may cause gas or upset stomach if raw, albeit, this food is being cooked. Feel free to omit if you are uncomfortable using
  • 1 cup white or brown rice
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 1/2 cup red lentils
  • 1/4 cup butternut squash
  • 1 cup mixed veggies I use green beans, peas, and fresh sweet corn, feel free to omit corn if you are uncomfortable. It is the dried corn that is of concern, to my research and understanding, not fresh, however, please correct me if I am misinformed
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 4 cups filtered water

  1. Add potato, carrots, garlic ,leafy green mix, chicken, onion, rice, quinoa, lentils, squash, mixed veggies, blueberries and water in a crockpot on high for 6-8 hours or until chicken is cooked through. ****IF you are NOT using chicken, 4-5 hours on high in the crockpot should do perfectly.
  2. Let the mixture cool for 30-45 minutes.
  3. Next, add the coconut oil, tumeric, bilberry extract, vinegar, flaxseed, kelp, and mix really good.
  4. Blend until everything is pureed.
