Pay It Forward
MILITARY:
I always say another mans trash is another mans treasure. You can send you unwanted coupons overseas.Did you know the Military over seas can use your expired coupons? They can use any coupon up to 6 months after their expiration date. When sending them it's makes it even easier for them if you go ahead and divide them into categories for them. They are fighting for our country and our rights, what a joy it is to know that we are able to help them. Here is also a site that has great information on what coupons the military will accept.
Here are a list of bases you can send to. If you have one you would like us to support please let us know.

Oklahoma Food Bank:
This year we are supporting the Oklahoma Food Bank by asking our readers to bring a can food item when they attend one of our classes. When donating to your local food bank you want to make sure that cans are clean and not dented in. You also want to make sure that the food is not out of date.Food and product donations are crucial to the success of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's programs, whether they come from individuals, retailers or wholesalers. Because nearly 700 charitable feeding programs and schools are served by the Regional Food Bank, donations move quickly and reach a maximum number of Oklahomans in need.
There are a few specific items that the food banks need more of:
- Canned meat
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruit
- Canned tuna
- Peanut butter
- Rice
- Beans
Businesses can donate any shelf-stable product, including:
- Discontinued items
- Damaged product
- Slow-moving items
- Mis-rotated product
- Pack changes or reformulations
- Obsolete / discontinued promotional or end-of-season items
- Product samples
- Close dated product
- Customer turn-downs
- Unlabeled or mislabeled items
- Products with cosmetic or production errors
- Perishable product beyond retail sales that will not affect safe consumption
Don't forget you can also donate your time helping to sort food and boxes as well.
Dear Melissa,
On behalf of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, I would like to thank you, and your coupon class, for donating 525 pounds of food to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, which will feed more families and seniors in need this summer.
The demand for food assistance has grown by as much as 50 percent throughout our service area in the last two years, as more and more working poor are struggling to keep food on their table. And, while people living in poverty have to live without a lot of things, the Regional Food Bank does not believe food should be one of them.
The spirit of generosity and compassion that you and have demonstrated through your donation is truly a testament to the difference every individual can make in our community. You have “shined a light” on the issue of hunger in our state, and we are extremely grateful.
Thank you for all you do to help us continue “Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope” in Oklahoma. We look forward to working with you again.
