Decorating from the dollar store!

In honor of The Dollar Tree accepting coupons I thought I'd share with you a fun decorating craft. You can pick up the supplies while you score some great deals! I found this cute silver serving dish at The Dollar Tree near my house. It's cute, but I thought it would be even cuter if I turned it into a chalkboard sign! Super stylish and versatile!
All you need is the platter, chalkboard paint ( I purchased the bottle pictured below for a few bucks at Walmart and I'll be able to use to for lots of crafts), and a foam brush(a bristle brush didn't work for me). I also have pictured tape but I found that I didn't need it. I ended up doing 3 light coats of paint and letting it dry an hour between each coat. Then you need to let it dry for 24 hours. After that time you need to condition it, which means take a piece of chalk and rub it on the side all over the surface. After that it's ready to go!
This would be so cute for a wedding reception, parties, as menu board in the kitchen….as you can see it can be used in so many ways. Mine is sitting on a table in my entryway. I'm going to change the saying with each holiday and season.
Enjoy!

That is very cute that’s a cheap gift you can give and it looks expensive
Great for weddings…your church could make one and then write the names of the bride and groom on it at each wedding. You could put it in the church foyer or use it to decorate the reception gift table. I wonder if you could find silver or gold glitter chalk?? ~ Queen Mum
Don’t know but what I was thinking about the little kids in Christ kids ministry could make something like that for Christmas or birthday or something like that for their parents
What do you think about this we had some decorative plates left over from a birthday party they are plastic but very cute well they work with that
I think you could use the chalkboard paint on anything.~ Queen Mum
Thanks I’ll try it have a blessed day
