Easy Chocolate Cake…from SCRATCH!
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) round pans.
Into a large mixing bowl sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
Add the shortening and milk then beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Beat in eggs and vanilla 2 more minutes.
Pour batter into floured pans and bake 35 to 40 minutes until a cake tester/toothpick comes out clean from center.
