Big changes at CVS

Big Changes at CVS Are Coming!

Heads up CVS shoppers, changes are on the way to CarePass, the weekly ad and there's even some store closings! Take a look at the changes below so you can prepare yourself for the “new” way of shopping at CVS.

Big Changes at CVS

THE AD WILL NOW LAST 2 WEEKS:
Starting December 31st, gone are the weekly ads. Each ad will last 2 weeks – approximately 2 per month. The change is due to take effect in all stores except those in Hawaii and in CVS’s Miami-based Navarro subsidiary. The only exceptions to the biweekly circulars will be the promotion-heavy holidays of Valentine’s Day, Halloween and Christmas.

Bi-weekly circulars have already been tested in certain areas and reports are that limits on ExtraBuck deals remained the same even though they lasted 2 weeks. We'll have to wait and see if it's the same when the plan goes nationwide.

CVS DEALS

According to CVS, the reasons for the change to every-other-week circulars is to reduce the workload – store employees won’t have to swap out shelf tags (which takes hours) as often. It also allows more time for customers to shop for the advertised deals. This brings up the question – will there be enough stock to handle a 2 week sale? We'll have to see.

With this change, employees will be required to have the COMPLETE tag changeover done within 4 hours of opening on the first ad day (by 7am for 24 hour stores). If this gets implemented it will be a big plus in our opinion, as our location never has tags up by the time we shop on Sunday.

CVS CarePass

CAREPASS IS GETTING A NEW NAME + MORE:
Starting December 31st, CarePass will become ExtraCare+. Shipping will be FREE with a $10 purchase. PRO: you'll no longer have to add a specific item to get the free shipping – you'll get free shipping on anything! CON: you'll have to spend at least $10 after any coupons, discounts or rewards. Gone are the days of ordering a tube of toothpaste and getting it shipped free.

Last but not least, here's what we think is the best change – FREE same day delivery from your local CVS with a $10 purchase within as little as 3 hours!

We have no idea exactly how these changes will effect shopping at CVS. We'll just have to give them a chance and see how it plays out. We'll keep you updated on any new info released.

Will Walgreens follow suit with a 2-week ad? No word yet, but the drugstores tend to implement each others policies so you never know!

CVS

CVS has announced that by the end of 2024 they will close 900+ stores! No list available as of now but we'll keep you posted.
