Dollar Tree School Supplies – Avoid These Items or You'll Pay too Much!
We all know Dollar Tree has the cheapest price around on just about everything but when it comes to school supplies it's not necessarily true. While most items are $1.00, they never have a sale during back to school season, while other stores do with several items priced 50 to 75¢!
Here's a few items you'll find cheaper than Dollar Tree:
1.) Crayons – places like Staples drop the price of Crayola crayon 24-ct. to around 50¢. another thing to keep in mind that some Dollar Tree stores only carry off brand crayons. You'll get better quality and pay less somewhere else.
2.) Ballpoint Pens – Staples, Office Depot and Walmart always have sales on BIC pens – pricing them under $1.00 and there are usually coupons! Some Dollar Tree stores carry Bic, some carry Paper-Mate but again, paying $1 is not the cheapest way to go.
3.) Pencils & Dry Erase Markers -These 2 item were added by a teacher. She states the pencils at Dollar Tree break easy and ground down to nothing when sharpening. The dry erase markers are not as pigmented so they can be hard to read, dry out faster and usually have less ink than the main brands like Expo.
4.) Pencil Sharpeners, Boxes, Index Cards, filler paper and other items can always be found for less than $1.00 elsewhere – some you'll find as low as 25¢ during a good sale at Staples!
Some items you may get a better price at Dollar Tree like packs of colored construction paper, and Westcott kids scissors (2-pk).
One great thing about Dollar Tree is the educational materials you can score for a buck! If you are a homeschooler, you'll find items way cheaper that Walmart! Look for flash cards, work books, bulletin board decorations and more!
Another thing to score at Dollar Tree is snacks for school lunches. Stock up on those $1.00 boxes of fruit snacks, Snyder's pretzels, Nabisco cookies and lots more. They come individually wrapped in 3-6ct. boxes, just pop in those lunch boxes – easy peasy!
