Soon you'll be able to pickup 3 Free N95 face masks at your local pharmacy!
The Biden administration has announced 400 million free N95 face masks will be made available to the public starting the last week of January. On or around January 24th, at local pharmacies and health centers will be giving away 3 masks per person. The CDC doesn’t explicitly recommend N95s, other than suggesting that you wear the “most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently.” However, in its updated guidance it says that N95s offer the “highest level of protection,”
What we don't know is if the masks will be offered in different sizes and which exact locations will carry them. The program will be fully up and running by early February, so if your location doesn't have them in January, be patient they'll be there soon.
Don't forget, you can still score FREE Covid at-home tests shipped via the US Postal Service.
The CDC said N95 masks must form a seal on the face to work properly, warning that gaps can let respiratory droplets that carry virus particles in and out of the mask. The agency provided a fact sheet to demonstrate how N95s should be worn.
The CDC recommends that everyone 2 years of age or older wear masks in indoor public spaces regardless of vaccination status in areas with substantial or high levels of viral transmission. Right now, virtually every county in the U.S. has high transmission of the virus, according to the agency.
