Summer will be here soon and there will be days just too hot to spend outdoors. Check out this frugal DIY that will make for some indoor fun.

Make your own watercolor paints! It's easy and it's something the kiddos can even help you with. When it comes to adding the food coloring, you can let then design their own shades – what fun!

How to Make Your Own Watercolors

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons Baking Soda
  • 3 tablespoons Vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Light Corn Syrup
  • food coloring

Directions: Mix ingredients together (you'll get a little bit of fizzing), then divide the mixture up into containers of whatever size you choose. Use foil or regular muffin tins, ice trays etc.  Once the ingredients are mixed, you add in the food coloring and mix well.

Let the paints harden, (you can even place them in empty lipgloss containers that you will find in travel sections), then wet the paint brush and use it just like store brand watercolors!

Enjoy the summer!
