What Is Nielsen Pulse?
Nielsen Pulse is a research program from Nielsen, the company known for measuring television audiences and media habits.
The program helps Nielsen study how people use streaming services, websites, apps, and connected devices.
Participants install the Nielsen Pulse app and grant the requested device permissions. Nielsen then collects eligible activity data while the app runs in the background.
Your participation helps Nielsen create research about media use and consumer behavior.
In exchange, eligible participants can earn points and redeem them for available rewards.

The first step is to visit Nielsen Pulse and create a profile.

You will also need to grant the permissions required by the app. Once setup is complete, you can use your devices as usual.
Points accumulate while you remain active and meet the program requirements.

According to the Nielsen Pulse landing page, participants may be asked to share data about device usage, web and streaming activity, and purchases.
The permissions can be broader than those used by an ordinary rewards app. Apple’s App Store disclosure says the iOS app may collect information linked to users, including contact details, device identifiers, product interactions, browsing history, diagnostics, and precise location.
That does not automatically make the program unsafe. However, it does mean you should read the privacy notice before joining.
Do not treat the permission screen like the terms for a toaster. This one actually deserves a look.

Nielsen Pulse says participants can redeem accumulated points for cash or gift vouchers from available brands.

The landing page also says that connecting more eligible devices may increase your earning potential.
However, this is best viewed as a small rewards opportunity. It is not a reliable income source or a replacement for an actual side job.
Think occasional gift card money, not “quit your job and buy a mysterious van” money.
Is Nielsen Pulse Legit?
Nielsen Pulse is operated by Nielsen, a long-established audience measurement and market research company.
Nielsen already runs computer and mobile research panels that reward participants for keeping measurement software active. Its established U.S. panel offers points that can be exchanged for PayPal payments and retailer gift cards.
Still, legitimacy and privacy are separate questions. A company can be real while asking for access you may not personally want to provide.
Before registering, decide whether the available rewards feel worthwhile in exchange for the requested data and permissions.
Who Should Consider Joining?
Nielsen Pulse may be worth considering if you already spend time streaming, browsing, or using mobile apps and do not mind participating in media research.
It may also appeal to people who enjoy survey panels, cash-back apps, and low-effort reward programs.
However, it is probably not a good fit if you are uncomfortable sharing browsing, streaming, purchase, device, or location information.
You should also check device compatibility before signing up. The Apple version currently requires iOS 18 or later.

Use the same email address throughout registration so your account and rewards stay connected.
Check how many points you need before redeeming a reward. Also, review whether points expire or require continued activity.

Why Nielsen Pulse May Be Worth Checking
Nielsen Pulse rewards participants for media activity they already do each day. Once setup is complete, the program is designed to run mostly in the background.
That makes it less demanding than traditional survey sites. You do not need to spend every evening answering questions about cereal packaging.
