Do you wish that there was a place you could go after work or in the evenings to get medical care from a doctor; however, you want to avoid the emergency room? There is such a place. It is the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic. Walgreens Healthcare Clinic allows you to get medical care from a doctor according to your schedule. They are open in the evenings and on weekends….you can even check the wait time online.
For example, a few months ago Daniel fell and jammed his hand and it immediately started swelling. If we would have known about the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic we would have gone there instead of having to go to the Emergency room for a long wait and an expensive visit. Not to mention a local emergency room can be far away and there seems to be a Walgreens in every neighborhood. Both my husband and my daughter have Ankylosing Spondylitis a brittle spine disease that affects the joints and the immune system. Both my friends and family can tell you that our life is hectic and there is always something medical going on in our house. It gives me relief to know that if something happens on the fly , which usually does, that there is another option for us so close by.
So what are some of the benefits of a Walgreens Health Care Clinic:
- Walk-ins are welcome
- Open 7 days a week and weeknights too.
- Accepts most insurance
- On site pharmacists
So is a Walgreens Health Care Clinic right for you? Walgreens Healthcare clinics are perfect for:
- People who don't have primary care physicians.
- People who work traditional work hours. Walgreens has hours into the evening and the weekends.
- People new to the area.
- People who are impatient. You can check the website to see if there is a wait and if not, just drop in.
- Since Walgreens is in every neighborhood, if someone doesn't have a car, they can likely walk or take public transportation.

I can’t imagine having family members with a brittle spine disease. I think I would be a nervous wreck – you are amazing! We have food allergies here, but they’re not life threatening so the worst I have to worry about is cleaning up really nasty bodily fluids from the shaggy carpet. 🙂
