Cox Announces 130 New Wifi Hotspots in OKC
Disclosure: This post was sponsored by COX, my thoughts and opinions are my own.
As a travel blogger and owning my own business, staying connected is extremely important to me. So when I was invited to a press conference learn that COX announced the launch of more than 130 WiFi hotspots throughout the Oklahoma City area including Edmond, Midwest City, Norman and Yukon I was so excited! These WIFI hotspots are placed in some of the busiest places around OKC like Bricktown. That's great for our hometown, but as a travel blogger I was also excited to hear that there are more than 20,000 COX WIFI Hotspots nationwide and that COX is collaborating with other networks to offer over 500,000 Hotspots around the country.
I know you are probably just as excited as I am but have a lot of question on how to use the service. We spoke with COX representatives to find out the answers to some of the questions you might have.
What COX plan do you need to have in order to use this service?
- Connect2Compete, Preferred, Premiere, Ultimate or G1GABLAST service – the majority of Cox customersutilize one of these plans.
Are there any limits with this service?
- As long as they are a Cox customer in one of the above tiers and have their username and password for their Cox account, they can log in anywhere the Cox WiFi hotspots are available. This also includes the nation’s largest WiFi network of more than 500,000 hotspots made possible by a collaboration of cable companies across the country, called CableWiFi launched in 2013.
So how do I find those hotspots any how? It's simple, you can check a list of the hot spots here. Once you get to a location, COX customers can find the Cox Network SSID and login with their COX username and password. Once you are authenticated you can then browse the internet.
I love that there are no extra costs to use this service. It's just another way COX has added even more value to their service and rewarding their loyal customers! COX did confirm that they are working on plans for additional hotspots in 2017.
