See a Doctor Online With Amwell!
True or False? You can see a doctor (and even get a prescription) without leaving your house. I am SO excited to tell you the answer is “True”!! I must admit, when I first heard of Amwell, I didn’t think it could be so simple. So I put it to the test myself. I’ve been needing to see a doctor for a while, but since moms usually don’t get that luxury–I downloaded the app to my iPad and gave it a whirl. It was so fast and so easy…seriously! When the visit was complete, I couldn’t wait to sit down & tell you all about it. I will definitely be using Amwell in the future, for myself and for my kids! Not to mention my husband who AS.

First, let me tell you a little about Amwell. They are the nation’s largest telehealth company with licensed and board certified doctors, dietitians and psychologists ready for immediate and live, online visits. Doctors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week either by mobile app or your desktop computer. Plus their physician visit costs just $69 and they take many major insurance policies. They can help with minor illnesses and injuries, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management. Here are common encounters Amwell physicians can help with:
- Flu
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Cold/Cough/Sore Throat
- Diarrhea/vomiting
- Sprains/strains
- Depression/Anxiety
- Weight concerns
So, let me walk you through my experience today. One thing I was impressed with was how simple the app was to use. I downloaded it, created my profile–including my pharmacy info–and was speaking with a doctor within minutes. Once you set up your profile, you pick your type of doctor you want to see. I saw a general practitioner, so I chose “Amwell medical”.
Then this next part is what I loved! You can see which doctors are available, including a picture of them. When you select a doctor, the next page will tell you a little biography of their experience. I picked Dr Ingrid Antall. Why? Because I thought she looked nice. Lol! (By the way, she was amazing!) Plus, my needs were female related, so I preferred a woman.
Once I selected her as my provider, I quickly entered my health history, current medications, allergies & there's even a place to enter your vitals, if you know them. Then viola, I was taken to a screen where I waited for just a couple minutes while the doctor reviewed my information. Once she was ready, my iPad switched to a split screen where her & I could see each other and we got straight to business. Most visits are complete within 10 minutes but can be longer, if needed.
You link to your pharmacy when you set up your profile, and the doctor can actually view your past prescriptions from their computer! During my visit, my doctor was able to see my last prescription and we were able to talk about how well it worked for me. At the end of our visit, I had the option to email myself a summary of the visit-and there was a pop-up telling me my prescription was sent to my pharmacy.
Seriously amazing. So fast, thorough and very practical. Since my visit went so well, I asked if they see kiddos. My doctor said they see all ages, from home bound senior citizens to infants. One thing to note for a child to be seen, is that the child must be present during the visit.

Here are some reasons Amwell is growing in popularity, especially among moms:
- Convenience. Avoid long office visits, traffic, waiting rooms, and scheduling conflicts. See a doctor 24/7, from your living room, bedroom, airport or even car.
- Accessibility. With my kids, it seems the worst illnesses hit in the middle of the night. Many times I have struggled with the decision of whether I should take them to the ER or just stick it out til morning. With 24/7 availability, you don't even have to get out of your pj's. Plus you won't be exposed to other illnesses in the waiting room of the hospital.
- Lower cost. Amwell offers a $69 physician visit which is much cheaper than a self pay urgent care or even a regular doctor visit would cost you. Plus their physician visit costs just $49 and they take many major insurance policies. This is a great option for college students or for those without insurance or with high deductibles. Plus they accept most major insurances so your visit may be cheaper.
- Peace of mind. Rather than self-diagnosing or using “Google” for your symptoms, you can obtain a second opinion directly from board certified, licensed doctors.
- Nationwide. Amwell doctor visits are now available in 46 states which makes it the perfect way to see a doctor while traveling.
One last thing I'm excited to tell you is since you follow Consumer Queen, we have a coupon code for 25% off a $69 urgent care visit. Use coupon code “Amwell25”. Follow this link to start your discounted doctor visit today! I'm confident you'll love it.

For these same reasons, I myself will be using Amwell again. Take a minute to watch this quick video that may seem all too familiar!!
Thanks!!
I haven’t used this one but will try it! We love doctor on demand!
I have to agree, I love having the leverage of seeing which doctors are available.
