Air Fryer Pizza Rolls for an Easy Afternoon Snack!
There's something about pizza rolls that just hit the spot for an afternoon snack. Most of us have probably gone through more pizza rolls when feeding kids and teens. I honestly don't make them often any more. Our kids are grown, but I like to have recipes on hand that work for when we have families from church over to the house.
I tend to think of Pizza Rolls as an after school snack, but let's face it, kids and teens are ALWAYS eating. This recipe is a good one to have on hand pretty much any time of year. Making them in the Air Fryer is a quick alternative to heating up the oven– and they taste so much better than in the microwave. I do use the Totino's Pizza Rolls in this recipe, there are different brands but this is the one I get most often. Just imagine how you could bump up the flavor with garlic butter, pizza sauce, or parmesan cheese.
To me, Pizza Rolls right out of the frozen food aisle at the store don't offer a ton of flavor. They are fine now and then. However, this is one of those store-bought foods you can really improve on with a few simple ingredients. If you're serving this at a gathering, you might be asked which brand of Pizza Rolls you bought! They are that much better!
How to Make Air Fryer Pizza Rolls that Actually Taste Amazing:
First, in a microwave safe bowl, add your butter, Italian Seasoning, and minced garlic (add red pepper flakes if you like yours spicy). If you want you can also add a little extra parsley for flavor. I love parsley but for younger kids it's something “green” that they may shy away from eating.
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees F. Then, toss your uncooked pizza rolls in the melted butter mixture gently with a pair of kitchen tongs.
Take your pizza rolls straight from the freezer and air fry in a single layer about 6 minutes. Work in small batches that will fit in your air fryer tray with a little room between them, not all piled together. If you leave them in the mixture too long they can get soggy.
You can turn them over or toss in the air fryer basket after the cooking time is done. Air fry another 1-2 minutes if you like them a little on the crispy side.
As soon as they are done and while they are still too hot to eat, drop the crispy pizza rolls in a clean mixing bowl and coat with Parmesan. Toss gently to coat with parmesan.
I use the canned, powdered parmesan for this since it coats very well and doesn't add too much cheese, just make sure to give the can a good shake to break up any large bits. Allow them to cool and serve!
If you do not have an air fryer you could also toast these up in the oven or even the toaster oven, but you would want to do the melted butter part after they cook so they can get crispy first.
How to Serve
You might be surprised at how well these turn out for a party! They look great on a a serving platter— even the adults will be snacking on this appetizer. Of course if you have a lot of kids in your group, these snacks will be a hit!
I do love this appetizer for a simple appetizer for football game days. We like to have things everyone can come and graze on –that don't require worrying about or having to put back in the fridge before too long!
You can also add an optional dip to serve with these. Marinara sauce or even a really good ranch dressing are great with these air fryer pizza rolls.
Other Options Using This Recipe:
If pizza rolls aren't your thing, you can always do something similar with fresh pizza dough, and you could make garlic knots. The best thing about this method is you could do this with so many different frozen snacks, garlic French fries, tater tots, mozzarella cheese, foods wrapped in wonton wrappers, and beyond!
This technique is a total game changer for snacking and air frying. Think of all the different flavors you can experiment with! What would happen if we added some hot sauce or hot honey?
It is an easy snack that most folks have probably never tried before. Air frying is a fairly new recipe idea or concept for a recipe. You can always try this with ready to cook crescent roll dough next time to create homemade pizza rolls with fresh pepperoni slices. I'm sure any form of parmesan garlic pizza rolls would be a great snack!

Add pizza rolls to a bowl and pour butter mixture over pizza rolls and toss to cover well.
In a separate bowl, Sprinkle parmesan cheese over pizza rolls and toss again to coat.

For smaller air fryers, work in smaller batches. Pizza Rolls should not touch each other while air frying, to ensure all are fully cooked. Air fryers may vary, so if pizza rolls are still cold in the center, continue air frying in 1-2 minute increments until fully cooked.
