Summer

This year Christmas has been tough for allot of families due to the economy. We have been fortunate this year to have my blog which has helped us out tremendously this year! God has truly blessed us and that is why my focus this year has really been giving back to others and teaching people to pay it forward!

The reason for this post is, I have heard allot of negativity this year about giving. It has really saddend my heart that there are so many people in need and charities are hurting and people are worrying about their own families therefore giving is the last thing on their mind! I hope to bring back the spirit of giving by making you think outside the box and showing you their are ways to give without spending allot of money!

Fast Fixin has a company Christmas party every year for their employees. I was very excited to hear that this year instead of playing their traditional ” Dirty Santa ” employees will be bringing a toy to donate to their local charity! I thought this was a great idea and it shows how much they care about their community!

This brings me to my list of 5 ideas that could help you make a difference in someone else's life this year without burning a hole in your own pocket!

1. Charity Dirty Santa– If you are having a normal Dirty Santa , change it up! Bring a wrapped gift for Charity along with a card with a special message from you! Keep your card and put the presents in the middle! Play dirty Santa as usual but the gift you end up with is the gift that will be donated in your name. Not necessarily the gift you brought! It would be fun to see people fight over what is donated in their own name!

2.Shop with coupons! There are many Health & Beauty aids and food items that you can get free or cheap when you use your coupons! Use these items to donate to your local shelter! You can check out our Grocery Store Forums to see what items you can get free or cheap in your area!

3. Use your time !There are many places and shelters that you could volunteer your time to this year! Serve meals to the homeless, sing Christmas carols at a nursing homes, read books to neglected children, driving an elderly neighbor to the grocery store or to run errands, be a candy striper or spend time with people in the hospital that have no families! Be sure and get your children involved!

4. Sign up for Online freebies ! There are so many companies out their giving away free stuff. It may be something you don't need but someone else could use it!  Why not sign up for these freebies and donate them to someone in need! How about boxing up all those free trial sizes and sending them to troops? Here are a few examples to get you going!

12 Days of Whataburger – Sign up for the free food, redeem it and give it to someone homeless !

Purina One 30 day challenge ! Sign up and donate the food to a local animal shelter ! You can also join the Pedigree Puppy Program !

Walmart has allot of free samples you can sign up and send troops or shelters!

BzzAgent– You can sign up to receive samples, coupons and even full size products! These would be great to donate!

Check out our Freebie Forum for more freebies!

5. Trash for Treasure – You've heard the old saying another mans trash is another man's treasure! Did you know there are things that you could be throwing away right now that can help people in your local area?

Box Tops for Education– Save these for your local schools they get .10 for every label!

Campbells Labels for Education–  Earn points and redeem for prizes for local schools!

Home Team Rewards– Save labels from Fast Fixin' & Fast Classics products. You get .30 for each label to be donated to a local school or any non profit organization and they double the first $100 !

Purina Weight Circles – You can save the weight circles to help homeless animals! You can send your weight circles to one of  local people that helps homeless animals :

This year we are donating to Jordan's Crossing and we will be posting pictures and setting aside a special Blog Post for this once all the donations come in! Many Companies have jumped into help and we will be mentioning them in our post! If your company would like to donate items to this shelter please let us know!

Make sure you get your kids involved in giving this year! This is something I cannot stress enough! It's good for them to see it's not all about what you get for Christmas! I hate it when I see kids tearing through  the paper and throw the items over their shoulders and say….What's Next? ”

So I challenge you to do one of the 5 steps above? Are you up for the Challenge? If so reply and let us know what you are doing to give if you are blogging about it please feel free to post a link to your giving post!

And remember…. Jesus is the REAL reason for the Season !
