Relaxing Self-Care Ideas

You need to learn to take care of yourself in ways that don't hinder your development in your career or prevent you from working hard. Being able to relax means that you can let go of the things that make you feel stressed; instead, you can feel good about the positive things in life instead.. You need to think about how you can be the most relaxed version of yourself possible. Below, we’ve got some of the best ways that you can relax so that you can feel like happiness is exactly what you need in life.

Exercise

Not many people would equate working out with relaxation, but it’s in that ‘post-workout’ feeling that makes you feel truly able to let go. The very first step to relaxing as much as you can is in your choice to exercise. You know that you can take a moment to get your steps in and you can work on working out – you just have to put the time in. A walk in the morning as the sun comes up, or when it goes down? Those kinds of walks are invaluable to you and you should work these into your day. Building up your fitness slowly is the best way to do it, as it won’t be such a harsh shock to the system. You can then relax knowing that you have done something in your day to get your body moving. Set your alarm a little earlier and do an online step workout while the kids sleep. Don't be afraid to do this for yourself every day. You will be surprised how much of a difference it can make to your mental health to start your day strong, too. If you want to choose a relaxing exercise, think yoga and Tai-Chi. Both of these are slow-moving! Your physical health is important, if you need motivation grab a friend or family member to exercise with you. Work out to your favorite songs. This should be a big part of your self-care routine and part of your daily routine. We put this as #1 on our list of relaxing self-care ideas.

Meditate and Pray

Often, it’s those quiet moments where you empty your brain entirely that will change your life. Meditation or prayer doesn't have to be hours long, either. You can sit and do ten to fifteen minutes of mindfulness every morning to just relax before you begin preparing for the day. It’s tempting to stay a little longer in bed, but that’s where you have to work on going to bed earlier instead of getting up feeling exhausted. Mindful meditation can be a great tool for positive encouragement, and it’s often something you need to just give you that spring in your step. Make this apart of your morning routine.

Starting writing things down

Did you know that one of the best forms of therapy is journaling your days? You don't have to write chapter books here. You just have to take ten minutes to write down a thought, a memory, something to vent to that isn’t a partner or the kids. Start a gratitude journal or write a love letter to yourself. You will find that you are going to make a big difference to your day if you spend half an hour in the evening just writing down some of the tidbits for the day. You can then look back on these and use them as your guide to feeling good about life. Keep the journal near your bed, and you can make a habit of jotting down a few sentences before you fall asleep. You could even start yourself a vision board .

Dive into a great book.

When was the last time you put down your screens and grabbed a good book? So many people forget how wonderful it can be to read a book from start to end, to get invested in characters. It’s an escape and it gets you away from your screen time – and that really matters. Reading is relaxing and it’ll help you to get away from the pressures that you’re feeling in life.Grab your favorite book and a cup of tea and find a quiet corner in your living room. If you don't like to read an adult coloring book is an excellent way to reduce stress levels and they are really fun to do.
