I am excited to share with you, my readers, a great new initiative by Coca-Cola.  In honor of International Women's Day on March 8th, Coca-Cola is hoping to get the word out on the 5by20 Initiative!

This program aims to offer women access to training, financial services and mentoring with the goal of reducing barriers that prevent women from success in the workforce.  It's was launched in 2010 and its goal is to empower 5 million women entrepreneurs internationally by 2020.  Join me in recognizing International Women's Day #IDW2017 by celebrating women entrepreneurs internationally.

The Coca-Cola #5by20 is a huge initiative as you can imagine, and of course is close to my heart as a female entrepreneur myself.  I am blessed to now own two of my own businesses, and have seen so many of my dreams come true in relation to my career.  Although it involves long (or odd!) hours and of course hard work, it's amazing to be able to do what I love and be a business owner.  I love that the #5by20 Initiative is helping women in developing nations achieve their dreams as well.

If these lovely handmade products caught your eye, you're not alone.  I just love the creativity and the attention to detail that went into these handmade items.  These items were handmade by women involved in the #5by20 Initiative.  These women have created beautiful handmade items from upcycled Coca-Cola packaging, such as Coca-Cola labels and pull-tabs.  Those packaging pieces are usually discarded as waste.  However, these women have used their abilities to recycle the packaging and create items to sell.  In turn, they are able to provide for themselves, families, and contribute to their own communities.  I love that their nationalities and culture contributes to their handmade goods.

When I and my family choose which companies to support with our business, it's so important we choose those that support the values we believe in.  I just think Coca-Cola greatly supports women in developing nations, and shows a lot of corporate social responsibility worldwide.

Although it is a global brand, Coca-Cola is mindful of the needs that are present in these small communities, where a small hand-craft business can mean success for an entire family.  With each Coca-Cola purchase I can be aware women in more than 60 countries are benefiting from the 5by20 Initiative…which is pretty great!

The research backing the Coca-Cola 5by20 Initiative is very persuasive.  Studies show that women are more likely to reinvest 90% of their income into helping their own families, and they are able to advance and succeed  in their own communities. Other positive community results are shown too! From more sustainable products to a stronger local economy, women who are empowered to work themselves are creating a ripple effect with positive outcomes.  It's awesome to me to see such small handcrafts create a huge impact in these communities worldwide.
