Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Home!

What recipe celebrates fall better than the Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte?! Here’s our copycat PSL and it's delicious, creamy, and caffeinated! It’s such a great way to usher in the cooler weather and it’s easy enough to make a cup in the morning.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Milk

I had the idea of making our own Pumpkin Spice Lattes a while back. We had a baby shower in October so it made the perfect beverage idea. I actually decided to prep a bunch of it and keep it warm in the slow cooker! It was a huge hit and everyone enjoyed it.

Side note: We actually happened to use decaf coffee and it worked just fine, but keep in mind this recipe is written for regular strength/caffeinated coffee. Your results may vary with any small adjustments.

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home:

Pumpkin Spice Latte -Coffee

This recipe makes 1 Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL), so you can adjust to how many servings you need. You will need a dairy-based milk (of choice), coffee, 1 Tablespoon of canned Pumpkin Puree, and Pumpkin Pie Spice. We also like to use brown sugar for this recipe since it gives it a little extra flavor. In a pinch you can use granulated sugar and it will still work.

I will say you do need brewed coffee that is on the strong side. Since you're adding these other flavors, it's important to give your beverage enough coffee flavor. This recipe does call for more milk than coffee.

First, brew your preferred coffee at a medium to strong strength. Heat your milk up in the microwave if desired. Heating the milk is an important step if don't want the milk to drop the temperature of the coffee. Pour your coffee over the hot milk and top with more frothed milk or whipped cream.

Then, in a separate microwave safe dish, mix your sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice. Add over the top of the milk or whipped cream and enjoy!

As you can see you can mix this up right in your cup! If you have an espresso machine, you can optionally layer the top with frothed milk–instead of whipped cream– and then add your pumpkin mixture on top.

Not a fan of layering your coffee beverage? Just mix it up! These mini immersion blenders from Amazon are ideal for single coffee drinks. I have had one for a while and it really does take my homemade coffee to the next level– like the coffee house makes. You can use it in a separate container to froth your milk, but it's not entirely necessary.

As I mentioned, you can adjust the servings using a full pot of coffee and more of the other ingredients as needed. Pour the hot mixture into the slow cooker, preferably with a slow cooker liner in place. Leave on the “warm” setting for any party or occasion!
