Perfect for Summer:
When the warmer weather arrives, watermelon is a staple side dish and snack around here! We all love it, and are always on the search for that perfect watermelon at the store or farmer's market.
See my Refreshing Watermelon Lime Drink below for a great way to use up leftover watermelon, or just switch things up from your regular sliced watermelon tray.
Uses Fresh Ingredients:
I use fresh limes in this drink, as it marries well with the fresh flavors of the watermelon.
If you aren't able to juice them yourself, this electronic juicer on Amazon is under $20 right now and small enough to store in a cabinet.
I recently purchased it myself, and it's a great size for smaller fruit such as limes and key limes.
You could always try prepared lime juice, but be aware that it may change the flavors of the drink. I personally use prepared lime juice for baking and cooking but do not use it for beverages.
It just has a little more of a bitter flavor and you don't want that in your fresh juices.
Next up is the watermelon. Just slice and cube into small pieces, that can be blended up easily in a blender or food processor.
You will blend/puree the juice until it has a smooth texture. Do not over-blend.
I like my Ninja blender since it has pulse and Auto-IQ options, so I hardly ever over-blend my smoothies or beverages.
If froth develops you can let it sit a few minutes and it will dissipate.
This beverage has a fun pink color which is perfect for summer barbecues, sipping on the porch and more.
I love how it looks in the clear mason jars glasses, but for kids you can opt for plastic cups and some fun straws for parties!
Optionally, add ice to turn into more of a smoothie, or use seltzer or soda water to put some fizz into this drink.
Garnish with fresh lime slices.
