Being that I'm not too savvy about my car, I love that this is an easy way to help winterize my car and I love that the kit comes with everything I need.
It's important to make sure your wiper blades are in working order. Make sure the rubber on the wipers are in good shape and not coming apart. Changing your windshield wipers should be done every 6-12 months but it’s especially important to do so before winter hits. You want to make sure that you have good visibility when driving in snow and sleet, so having a good set of wipers is essential. Make sure they are properly installed before the cold weather sets in. You can also fill your windshield wiper fluid with special fluid to help melt the ice. No matter how often you see this meme on social media, don't put sand paper on your blades! This is such an important step to winterize your car.

Check Your Tires Pressure
It doesn't have to be winter to check your tire pressure. Proper tire inflation helps your vehicles gas mileage, extend the life of your tires, provide better traction, and improve how well you can control your vehicle. You do NOT need special winter air! Before heading out on a road trip or just running errands around town during winter, it’s important to check (or have someone else check) your tire pressure. Colder temperatures mean that air contracts which can lead to lower tire pressure – so make sure yours aren’t too low before you start driving!
Check Your Tire Quality
In addition to tire pressure, make sure your tires are in good shape. Check your tire tread and make sure it is adequate.. Proper tire tread will help your vehicle maintain traction. Inspect your tires for bubbles or cracks. If you feel you need new tires or better traction splurge for a tire. Do not try to modify your existing tires!

Check Your Fluids
Your vehicle's fluids need to be filled properly. Remember, more is not always better. Proper car care is ensuring that the fluids are at the proper level and not over or under filled. Check your engine coolant (yes your engine needs coolant when its cold outside), brake fluid, transmission fluids, and the windshield wiper fluid is full. As mentioned before there is special wiper fluid that will help melt ice. In addition to melting ice, the dirt and salt that is placed on the road will make it hard to see out of your windshield. Be sure to use the proper fluid.
Check Your Car Battery
Make sure your battery is good shape. Extreme weather temperatures can drain your battery quickly. Don't let a dead battery be the reason you are stranded this winter. Inspect the battery for excessive corrosion, battery acid, or defects. If you see excessive corrosion build up on the posts it can be a sign your battery is defective. Don't leave your lights on. That is a sure fire way to have a dead battery!
Stay safe this winter. Preventative maintenance can save you from being stranded in the cold weather. Make sure you take time to Winterize Your Car.
