I remember when I was little we would make Valentines mailboxes at school and mom would buy a box of those corrugated cardboard Valentines cards for me to pass out. Today they still have those cardboard Valentines cards. Instead of the traditional Valentines cards, this year I thought it would be fun for the kids to make a few fun and frugal crafts to pass out.I hope you enjoy making these with your kids as much as I did.

Conversation Heart Pencil Toppers:

(Walmart Prices)

  • Valentines Pencils 20pk for $2
  • Thin Foam
  • Markers 4.88 for a sharpie set
  • Pipe Cleaners 100pk $1.97
  • Hot Glue Gun

Wind pipe cleaners around pencil extending 2 coils above the eraser. Let your child punch out hearts and write Valentines words on them. Using the hot glue gun add 1 drop on the back of the heart and attach to the top coil and let dry.(If you have small children you may want to handle the glue gun.)

You can also use Wilton Candy Sticks ($6 a bag) instead of pencils.

Home Baked Goods

Don't forget you also do something a simple as baking cookies with your kids. Grab some icing and some fun sprinkles. Let the kids get creative and decorate themselves. Walmart has cute Valnetines cookies boxes only $4.97 for a set of 3.

What is your favorite frugal Valentines craft?
