How to Keep Apples From Turning Brown With This Handy Tip!
This tip is probably one of the easiest that I’ve shared. But don’t let the fact that it’s easy make you think it’s not important. This tip is needed. No one likes to eat brown apples!
Now that the weather is warming up my family is planning on getting out and about! When I’m away from home I always have ready to eat snacks in the car with me. My kids eat like birds and of course, never eat when it is convenient so I try and be prepared for “I’m hungry!”
I try to keep things healthy and one snack my kids like is apples, but they have to be in slices! If you give my youngest a whole apple she’ll take one bite out of it and it’ll look like a scene from Snow White! My oldest is missing her front teeth so if apples aren’t sliced its nearly impossible for her to eat it!
Now we all know what happens when you slice an apple. It seems like 37 seconds later it’s already turning brown! Once it’s brown there is now way my kiddos are snacking on it. This simple tip will help your apples stay brown-free longer!
After you slice the apples put them in a bowl with 4 cups of cold water and 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice. Let them soak for 5-10 minutes. Then take them out of the liquid and put them in an air tight container. The apples are now ready for school lunches, picnics and parties!
