So when my daughter moved out of the house I was excited to finally have my “man cave”.  But as you can see the room wasn't exactly “manly”!  So needless to say I had some work to do get this room man cave certified.

Taylors Room

The 1st step was to figure out what color to paint it.  So we headed over to Lowe's and found the Olympic Paint display.  They have a ton of colors to choice from.  Believe it or not we still had a hard time picking out a color.  I am a visual person and luckily for us they had books that had room brochures in different colors and different styles.  This way we could look and get a feel for what a style looked like actually in a room.

After we settled on a few colors to try, we went over to the paint counter and got samples to take home.  This is a great way to see what the color actually looks like in your room without spending a lot of money.  It's amazing what lighting and carpet color will do to the “look” of a color you picked out.  We actually had to try 4 different colors before we found one we liked.  So happy I didn't have to buy a gallon of  paint just to find out that that color didn't work in our room!  We ended up going with Cuppa Coffee!

If you want to see how a color will look before you head to Lowe’s, you can upload a photo of your room to the Olympic Paint Visualizer tool. After a few clicks you can give your room a digital makeover with any Olympic Paint color!  It will save you some time as you can narrow down your color choices before you get there.

Plus Lowe’s will refund customers who are dissatisfied with their paint for any reason, as long as the customer returns the paint in its original container within 30 days. Reason for return may include being unhappy with the quality or color, among others.  How cool is that!  Valid on interior and exterior liquid paint purchases 4/3/16-8/9/16

As you can see from the 1st pic I had my work cut out for me.  I was worried that there was no way I would be able to cover those colors with just 1 coat of paint.  The Lowe's employee at the paint counter told me that Olympic ONE is the paint I should go with.  It is a paint and primer all in one!  He assured me that it would cover my blue and lime green walls.  I admit that was a little concerned that it wouldn't be able to cover those bright walls but I left with confidence as I just bought 1 gallon.

As you can see from the pic below it covered those bright walls completely!  That is just 1 coat of paint!  It only took 1 gallon to paint the entire room, of course that may vary depending on how big your room is.  I am sold on Olympic ONE paint!  I will definitely pick up some Olympic ONE for my next project!

As we look for pieces to add to the room, you can check out our mood board below. We have already started turning an old dresser into an entertainment center and distressing it. To find the closest Lowe's store click here
