Self transformation is something that we all yearn for at some point or another, even if only in small ways.

There’s something about the idea of turning over a new leaf, redefining ourselves, and making tomorrow better than today, that is naturally inspiring and uplifting in a range of different ways. After all, why else would New Year’s resolutions be such a popular tradition?

Unfortunately, attempts at self transformation often don’t work out as we’d like, with the consequence of this being a lot of frustration, insecurity, and even stagnation.

Here are a handful of reasons why your attempts at self transformation may be getting stalled.

Your environment is dragging you down

On some level, it’s probably fair to say that most people tend to believe that they will be able to transform their circumstances, including their mindsets, more or less irrespective of any external factors in their lives.

And there’s certainly some truth to this. After all, there are plenty of stories out there of people overcoming the odds and transcending dire environments and circumstances.

Nonetheless, it’s important not to underestimate just how powerful your environment can be in terms of either motivating and inspiring you on the one hand, or getting in your way, undermining you, and dragging you down on the other hand.

To the best of your ability, take steps to adjust your home environment so that it is more uplifting and life-affirming, and makes you more enthusiastic and motivated in general.

That might mean adding features such as Sogni Di Cristallo chandeliers, or it might mean tidying the place up and hanging up some motivational posters on the walls.

make your dreams happen

You are spending too much time trying to think your way to change, instead of changing your actions and habits

When all is said and done, there really can be something quite addictive about trying to find the best “hacks” to make you more efficient, exploring different apps and tools to boost your productivity, and reading endless self-help books for different exercises and insights that might be significant.

The problem is that, to a very significant degree, self transformation only comes about by changing your actions and habits, and not by coming up with the perfect set of intellectual theories or insights.

Begin by implementing the right daily habits, first and foremost.

goals

You are not focused enough on what to do in the present moment

Attempts at self transformation often go hand-in-hand with elaborate goal setting exercises, and various types of future planning.

While it’s important to have a good sense of the direction you want a head in, however, getting overly fixated on your goals for the future can stall your efforts at self transformation, by distracting you from what you should do in the present moment.

Ultimately, it’s only what you do in the present moment, at any given time, that actually has the ability to shape your destiny going forward.
So, bring your attention back to the present moment, and think of what you should do here and now.
