Ingredients

  • KETTLE CORN POPCORN INGREDIENTS:
  • ¼ cup oil, such as canola
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup uncooked popcorn kernels
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1-2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • Chex MIX INGREDIENTS:
  • 8 cups Chex cereal
  • 16 oz chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 3.4 oz package of instant cherry gelatin powder
  • 1/2 Cup Red, white and pink M&M's
  • Dried cranberries - as much as you desire to add. I add about 1/2 cup
  • Conversation heart candy - as much as you desire to add

Instructions

For Kettle Corn Popcorn:

Heat oil over medium-high heat on the stove, in a heavy pan.

Add 3 popcorn kernels to the oil.

Shake pan every few seconds until the 3 kernels pop.

When popped, add sugar and stir constantly until close to dissolved, about 10-15 seconds.

Quickly add ½ cup popcorn kernels and cover with lid.

Shake pan five times and let rest for 2 seconds.

Repeat this until you hear the popping stop. Then immediately remove from heat and pour popcorn into a large bowl. Toss with salt and butter if desired.

Alternately: You can use microwaveable Kettle Corn. Be sure it's unflavored and unsalted, and remove any extra kernels prior to mixing with other ingredients.

CHEX DIRECTIONS:

Melt chocolate wafers in a microwave safe bowl.

In a large bowl combine the chex cereal and the melted chocolate. Stir until evenly coated.

Use a large gallon sized Ziploc bag to add powdered sugar, cocoa with gelatin powder, shake lightly until combined.

Carefully add in chocolate covered chex, and seal shut. Shake well until combined with powdered sugar and other ingredients.

Empty into large bowl and seal until ready to serve.

To Serve:

Add kettle corn, Chocolate Chex (Muddy Buddies) mix, M&Ms, Dried Cranberries, and Conversation Heart Candy.
