The Hours of the Book Sale are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is FREE to attend the book sale. This highly anticipated free event is one of the largest library book sales in the nation, offering an incredible selection of books at unbeatable prices. At the 2025 Metropolitan Library System book sale in Oklahoma City, paperbacks cost $1, hardbacks cost $2, and children's books are half-price. Other items are individually priced. There is also a Better Books Room showcasing items in better condition and a slightly higher starting price.

Friday the 21st from 1 pm to 7 pm is a sale for members only. To be a member you must have joined by 1/31/25 and tickets were mailed to members the first week of February.

No memberships or tickets are available at the event. Children 12 and under do not need a ticket to attend.

Saturday and Sunday the hours are 9 am-5 pm. It is FREE to attend the book sale. No tickets are required to attend on Saturday and Sunday.

What Can I Bring to the Sale:

You can pay with cash or credit/debit cards. You CAN bring a small cart or wagon to the event, but we prefer totes or backpacks. Please be considerate of other shoppers. Do not block aisles. Follow our ‘airplane' guideline: Do not take up more square footage than you might with yourself and a large suitcase at an airport queue!

We took a tote last year during the members' sale and let me tell you it was HEAVY. I recommend bringing a tall skinny cart as wagons will be hard to maneuver.

Please do not bring items to donate to the sale – wait until the Friends of the Library reopen for donations in March and visit the www.supportmls.org/donatematerials site to learn more.

You can bring in outside drinks but there will be concessions available from the fairgrounds.

Become a Volunteer:

Please sign up to volunteer for the Friends of the Library Winter Book Sale 2025. Shifts are open from February 15 to 23. Please join the Friends and support our libraries!

The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System Book Sale relies entirely on volunteers. If you see a volunteer, be sure to thank them! Interested in volunteering for a future sale? Ask a volunteer leader in a brightly colored shirt for details or visit the Information Booth.

Free books for Teachers and Homeschoolers

Teachers and nonprofits can register here to be eligible to claim leftover items at the end of our sale on February 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

How Does it Work:

All books are broken up into categories and and you can roam from section to section to browse the selections. Add whatever you want to your bag and fill out a tally sheet of what you bought and then get in line to purchase. The line moves really fast. If you didn't bring a bag with you and you bought more than you thought, there is a holding section where you can keep your books while you shop some more.

Last year, Daniel and I walked out with over 28 books for around $45. If I had brought a cart, we probably would have bought more. Note to self…this year bring a cart!

As the final pages turn and the last echoes of excitement fade away, the Friends of the Metropolitan Library Sale leaves behind a legacy of community enrichment and literary celebration. With grateful hearts and shelves brimming with newfound treasures, patrons bid farewell to another successful event, already counting down the days until next year's gathering.

Yet, the spirit of camaraderie and the love for literature ignited within these fairground walls continue to flourish, reminding us all of the enduring magic found within the pages of a book and the connections forged through shared stories.
