Own the Walk with Stryker Mako SmartRobotics
This post was sponsored by Stryker. All opinions are my own.
Did you know that Stryker has been named “The Official SmartRobotics™ Joint Replacement Partner of Minor League Baseball?” Through this partnership, Stryker is also hosting “Own the Walk “- the first-ever national platform that encourages fans of all ages to stay active through everyday activities, like walking.
Own the Walk
Stryker is hosting activations at select MiLB ballparks all across the country and I was lucky enough to be able to attend our local game in Oklahoma City and see the partnership up-close. Stryker had a booth with interactive decoding and trivia games for families, and we got to learn about the benefits of Mako SmartRobotics™ while we were there. I know my husband’s quality of life has improved greatly since he had both his hips replaced.
“We are thrilled to work alongside Minor League Baseball to bring the ‘Own the Walk’ platform to fans and communities across the U.S., while also supporting our veterans,” said Don Payerle, president of Stryker’s Joint Replacement division. “Minor League Baseball fans are not only passionate about the game, but they also care about spending active time together with loved ones, so what better way to get active than by spending a day with the family at the ballpark?
Our country has endured a great deal over the past year and we want to engage local communities with fun and healthy activities, including learning about the importance of joint health and innovative medical technologies like Mako SmartRobotics™.”
My Journey
My husband had his 1st hip replacement in 2010. Prior to the surgery, he limped around for about 2 years telling himself that it wasn’t that bad. As a result, his knees and back started to hurt. Finally in February of 2010, he decided to have his hip replaced. After talking with his doctor, they decided together to use a Stryker product that fit his lifestyle. Once he was healed from the procedure, he understood how much pain he had been living with. He said it felt so good to be able to walk and enjoy activities with his family again. So much so that he had the other hip replaced in 2012! It has been one of the best decisions he has ever made for himself and our family.
Now is the time!!!
While many people delayed necessary surgeries like joint replacement procedures during the
pandemic, it’s important that they don’t put their life on hold any longer, like my husband did for so long! I encourage anyone with joint pain to visit their doctor to find a treatment plan right for them. Joint pain that goes untreated can lead to unforeseen complications down the road, and it can negatively affect other joints.
Giving back
Another reason my husband is proud to have had a Stryker hip replacement is because of their
charitable efforts. Stryker is partnering with K9s For Warriors, the nation’s largest provider of
service dogs to American veterans living with military-related trauma. For every walk issued to a
batter during the regular season, Stryker will donate $1 to K9s For Warriors. Since beginning
the partnership in 2015, Stryker has sponsored 31 service dogs to date — the largest number
by any corporate partner. There’s nothing better than baseball for a good cause!
So what are you waiting for?
Get out and catch a MiLB game near you and “Own the Walk”. While you’re there, get some
information on Stryker and Mako SmartRobotics™. You won’t be sorry. We know we’re not!
