Such a fun idea and one that the kiddos will love!  Homemade Lollipops would be a great summer activity that won't heat up your kitchen and will also thrill the kids!  I love that we can control what ingredients go into these lollipops so we know exactly what our families are eating.

This recipe calls for cinnamon oil but you can use virtually any flavor you'd like.  You could even try mixing flavors to make up your own great combinations!  One important note on this recipe is that these Homemade Lollipops call for Lorann Candy and Baking FlavoringThis recipe does NOT call for regular essential oils.

Please use only food grade ingredients in your recipe.  You can find the Lorann flavoring used in this recipe at the link above. I hope you'll save this recipe and be sure to have fun with it!  Let us know what great flavors you come up with!

Since we have cinnamon flavoring in this ingredient list, we opted to use the red food coloring. You can always change it up and use red and green or other fun colors.

This is a fun Christmas confection you can make at home.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. White Karo Syrup
  • 1/2 c. Water, cold
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon Oil, or any flavor you'd like.  The oil I use is LouAnn Candy and Baking Flavoring and comes in a 2-pack
  • 3 drops Red Food Coloring, or preferred color/amount

Instructions

  1. In a heavy saucepan mix the water, syrup and sugar on medium heat.  Stir till combined.  Boil to 295 to 300 degrees on a candy thermometer.  When it reaches 295 remove from heat and it will continue getting warm to 300.
  2. When you add the flavor make sure your house is well ventilated and stand back.  Its very strong and will take your breath away.
  3.  Add food coloring and mix well. As you're stirring, remember to stay back.
  4. Spray the hard candy mold with cooking spray and transfer the candy mixture to a glass measuring cup.
  5.  Put your sticks in the mold and pour the syrup into the mold. Let it set until hard. You can also put them in the mold and not use a stick.

Notes

Note- Be sure to use a food grade candy oil. This recipe does not call for essential oils.

Yield: Approximately 24 but this will depend upon the size of candies made.
