Homemade Veggie Wash & Brush!
Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a major fruit and veggie person. I'm also very health conscious when it comes to produce. I can't always afford to buy organic so I make sure I wash my fruits/veggies and I'm always looking for an easier, more fugal way to do it.
Now, I don't have a lot of extra time so I usually buy Fit Veggie wash at Wal-mart but you can make an inexpensive homemade veggie wash for very little out of pocket cash. Here's what you need:
- 2 Cups of Water
- 2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
- 1/4 Cup of baking Soda
Mix the lemon juice and water together, then add the baking soda. Use caution as the lemon juice and baking soda may react to one another and foam up.
You can then put the wash into a spray bottle but I prefer my own little invention because I like to scrub my veggies with a brush. I made a veggie wash brush using a soap dispenser I purchased at Wal-mart.
All you have to do is fill the soap dispenser with the homemade veggie wash or Fit. Then when you need to wash an apple just press in on the top and out comes the wash onto your fruit or veggie and then use the brush attached to scrub it clean. Run the brush under water when you're done and store with the bristles up. Follow Consumer Queen on Facebook for more tips and deals!
