Hot Fudge Cake

One of my husband's favorite desserts is hot fudge cake. His Mom used to make it for him when he was little. I've made it a few times but this was my first time making it in the slow cooker. It turned out Ah-Mazing!! You can make this when you are getting dinner ready and it will be ready to go after you finish eating. This cake make's it's own rich hot fudge sauce…what's not to love?!

It's hard to give an exact cooking time because everyone's crock pot is different sizes and cooks differently. It's pretty hard to burn it if you are checking it frequently because it is do moist! Check out all these slow cookers on sale! Some are 50-75% off!

Crock Pot Hot Fudge Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup & 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons & 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 11/2 cups hot water
  • Whipped cream or ice cream, optional but you'll want it!

Instructions

  1. Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spay. I would recommend and 2 1/2 to 5 quart size.
  2. In a small bowl whisk together the flour and baking powder, set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, melt the butter and chocolate in the microwave. Whisk in the 2/3 cup of granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of cocoa, vanilla extract, salt, milk, and the egg yolk. Then add in the flour mixture. Stir until combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the slow cooker and spread it evenly. It's a little thick but that's ok. And it's ok the lick the bowl clean when no one's looking!
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, and 1 1/2 cups hot water until the sugar is dissolved.
  6. Pour the mixture over the batter in the slow cooker. It will looks like a chocolate mess but trust me it will be delicious!
  7. Cover and cook on high for 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the crock pot. Each one is slightly different so just check in on your cake frequently!
  8. You can tell it's ready with the cake is set and it's starting to pull away from the edges. You'll be able to see the hot fudge bubbling up around the edges.
  9. When it's done turn it off for at least 30 minutes and let it set. Spoon it into bowls and top with ice cream or whipped cream. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
  10. Enjoy!
