Seer my easy DIY Dry Shampoo With Essential Oils!
I have to admit that my dry shampoo has come to the rescue on more occasions than I’d care to admit! My hair is pretty fine and styles so much better when it’s a little dirty. I wash my hair every other day but it gets greasy quickly so I always have to use my dry shampoo on the 2nd day. Looking at the ingredients in dry shampoos I found out that there are things in them that I DO NOT want to be putting on my scalp! Things like isobutane, butane and propane. What??? No thank you! So I decided to find a way to make my own dry shampoo so that I could control what ingredients go into it.
The main ingredient for the dry shampoo is Organic Cornstarch. And then you can change what you add to it, depending on the color of your hair.
Light hair: mix 1/2 c. organic cornstarch with 3-4 drops of the essential oil of your choosing (lavender is a great one!)
For red or auburn hair: mix 1/2 c. organic cornstarch with 3-4 drops of the essential oil of your choosing. Add 2 Tbsp. cinnamon (you can skip the essential oil if you’d like to stick with just the cinnamon smell!)
For dark hair: mix 1/2 c. organic cornstarch with 3-4 drops of the essential oil of your choosing and 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa (you can skip the essential oil if you’d like to stick with just the chocolate smell!)
How to Use:
Be sure to store your dry shampoo mix in an old powder container or small jar. If available, use a makeup brush to apply to your roots and oily parts of your hair. If you don’t have a brush you can just comb the powder through your hair.
So the next time you need more dry shampoo, consider throwing a batch of this simple, inexpensive mix together instead of buying the chemical-laden products at the store!
