Bread oh how I love you! When I was younger I think I survived on just bread. I was a picky eater but I loved all kinds of bread. Now that I'm older I still love bread but I just can't indulge myself as much. A little while ago I was craving some homemade bread. I wanted something easy but tasty. So I made this! It's the Easiest Focaccia Bread Ever!
This bread is so easy to make that I just supervised as my daughters made it all on their own, they are ages 5 and 8! If they can do it, you can handle it! The directions are easy and the list of ingredients is very short. The part I hate the most it trying to be patient while the dough rises…why does it have to feel so long?!
This is a very basic recipe. I would suggest adding some flavor with some herbs. After mine was baked I drizzled some olive oil on top then sprinkled it with some coarse sea salt and rosemary. I like mine salty!
This is a great bread to compliment any Italian meal or soup! Guest won't believe you made the focacia bread! When you make it come back and let us know how you liked it and what you did to flavor it up! Enjoy!
Easiest Foaccia Bread Ever
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup warm water (about 110 degrees F)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, around 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the yeast mixture with flour; stir until combined. Add in additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. When the dough will form a ball, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 1 minute.
- Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.
- Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface; knead briefly. Pat or roll the dough into a sheet and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush the dough with oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake focaccia in oven for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on desired done-ness. If you like it moist and fluffy, then let bake closer to 10 minutes. If you like it crisper and browner on the outside, you may have to bake closer to 20 minutes.
- After baking I rubbed mine with a little olive oil and sprinkled it with coarse salt and rosemary.
