Overnight French Toast Bake Recipe
Recipe: Overnight French Toast Bake
I absolutely LOVE french toast in the morning but it is something we rarely eat because it just seems like too much of a hassle sometimes. But this French Toast Bake is one of those things you can make ahead and not have to worry about in the morning, just wake up early enough to pop it into the oven!
This recipe is ideal for back-to-school days, since it’s an easy-clean meal that can be done ahead of time. The top of this bake gets nice and crispy and the bottom is softer like the inside of a typical french toast.
Topped with a bit of maple syrup and this Overnight French Toast Bake is morning perfection! You can also add sausage patties, especially these heat and serve ones here. Or various fruit like strawberries, blueberries or banana slices. This is pictured in a medium sized casserole dish.
This recipe serves 4-6 people but if you need it for a larger crowd simply double the ingredients and put it all in a 9×13 baking pan. It works just as great that way, too!
- 1 (8-ounce) French bread loaf, cubed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 egg white
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/8 c. maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon
- Maple syrup
Arrange bread cubes evenly in a lightly greased 11 x 7 baking pan.
Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, butter, maple syrup and vanilla together
Pour mixture on top
Cover evenly with cinnamon.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 8+ hours
The next morning, remove from the refrigerator and let stand 20 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350.
Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon then bake, covered, for 30 minutes.
Uncover and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned and set.
Allow to cool 5 minutes before serving. Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!
