Savory Snacks:
Chances are, for New Year's Appetizer ideas you want something savory to munch on. See some of our favorites below.
Garlic Rosemary Parmesan Pretzels
These pretzels have a delicious and unexpected herb flavor. They are one of our favorites for a salty snack. Serve them at room temp in a pretty serving dish.
Cowboy Ranch Cheese-Its If you need something with a kick, try these flavorful Cheese-Its. Ranch is one of those flavors that will have everyone coming back for more!
For a hot food idea, homemade Mozarella Sticks are so much better than the storebought versions. And, you can make these ahead and just keep warm on a cookie tray in the oven. Serve with Ranch, Marianara, or even a cheese dip.
This is one of the more sophisticated appetizers on our list. While it's best served hot, you can also add it to a bread bowl and let it cool to room temperature. Serve with Pita chips, tortilla chips, or bread slices.
Have a Tex Mex or Mexican theme? This 7 Layer Dip is a classic! We love this one with tortilla chips or scoops.
Another hot dip, this Cowboy Queso is actually one you can make in the skillet on the stove, in the oven, or even on the grill! Add peppers to taste and choose whether you want it spicy or extra hot!
This dip is served cold, and usually best if there's a good sized crowd to finish it up in a short time frame. For an easy hack for leaving homemade guacamole out and keeping it fresh for longer, set the dip bowl inside a larger bowl with crushed ice cubes. The ice will keep your guac fresh for longer, and keep its color!
Appetizer Ideas -Sweet Treats:
If you're in charge of bringing a dessert or want something sweet to balance out the salty snacks, these desserts are easy finger foods that require little or no dishes. Perfect for the come-and-go New Year's events.
Puppy Chow, no matter what flavor, is always a hit! This cereal treat is coated with chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar and definitely one that you want to keep snacking on. Try this Milky Way version for a fun twist!
The family famous rice krispie roll is one of our favorites. It's basically the classic rice krispie treat recipe, covered in chocolate, and rolled. This one is also a favorite to take on trips, since it's something with chocolate but travels well!
They may not be the prettiest dessert to look at, but these Milk Chocolate Ritz Bars are absolutely delicious. The Ritz crackers offer a little bit of saltiness to balance out the milk chocolate. These don't contain coconut like traditional magic bars, so they are great if you have nut or tree-nut allergies to think about!

One thing we always try to think of, with lots of kids around, is what to eat for dinner! They get hungry and snack foods aren't filling for long.
