Old Fashioned Frosted Brownies- From Scratch!
These Old Fashioned Frosted Brownies take me back to my childhood. They remind me of the brownies I ate as a kid. Admittedly I've tried making homemade brownies before and never liked them because they were too cakey so I gave up on homemade and stuck with box brownie mix. It wasn't all bad though because a) they're delicious and b) they're super easy. But when I found this recipe I knew I needed to give homemade brownies another try. Oh my goodness, I AM SO GLAD I DID!! These brownies are some of the best brownies I have ever had and they were super easy to whip up.
These brownies are not super fudgy like the box brownies can be. It's a perfect mixture of thick and chewy without being too gooey and the frosting on top adds plenty of sweetness. I'm usually not a big fan of frosting on brownies because it makes them way too sweet for me but I'm in love with the brownie/frosting combination of this recipe. The trick is to add the frosting to the brownies while they're still warm so that the frosting melts right into the top layer of the brownies. Trust me, it's amazing!
So the next time you need brownies for a special occasion or just get a craving give these Old Fashioned Frosted Brownies a try first before reaching for the box mix. I promise you won't be disappointed!
