I absolutely LOVE french toast in the morning but it is something we rarely eat because it just seems like too much of a hassle sometimes. I came across Overnight French Toast Bake and I just knew I had to make it. For one, it looked amazingly delicious and for another, I could make it all in one pan and have it done the night before! Who doesn’t love an easy-clean meal that can be done ahead of time???
The top of this bake gets nice and crispy and the bottom is softer like the inside of a typical french toast. Topped with a bit of maple syrup and this Overnight French Toast Bake is morning perfection! This recipe serves 4-6 people but if you need it for a larger crowd simply double the ingredients and put it all in a 9×13 baking pan. It works just as great that way, too!
Overnight French Toast Bake
1 (8-ounce) French bread loaf, cubed
2 large eggs
1 egg white
2 cups milk
1/4 c. sugar
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1/8 c. maple syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Arrange bread cubes evenly in a lightly greased 11 x 7 baking pan. Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, butter, maple syrup and vanilla together then pour over bread mixture. Press the bread cubes gently to help absorb the egg mixture. Sprinkle the top evenly with cinnamon. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 8+ hours.
The next morning, remove from the refrigerator and let stand 20 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350.
Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon then bake, covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned and set. Allow to cool 5 minutes before serving. Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!
