Homemade Lemonade in the Instant Pot
There’s something about Homemade Lemonade from scratch! It’s absolutely delicious and one of the best ways to beat the heat in the summer here in Oklahoma. Everyone’s taste for lemonade varies– what is too sweet to someone may be too sour for the next person! However you can always adapt this recipe to your taste and this lemonade is sure to please a crowd. Definitely give it a try.
It’s made with a lemon syrup cooked down in the Instant Pot. No standing at the stove is required! I also love that you can make lemonade ahead with this recipe.
If you’re planning a picnic or church get-together I suggest making the syrup ahead of time and then just diluting it with ice and water when you’re about ready to serve.
This homemade lemonade recipe looks great served in a tall glass pitcher. Another option for serving– especially for a crowd– is a mason jar drink server. It works very well and I can recommend it if you want something with the farmhouse style. This beverage looks so great for baby showers and bridal showers!
How to Make Homemade Lemonade:
If you haven’t yet made lemonade from scratch, I can assure you it’s one of the easiest things to mix up. You might wonder why you haven’t been making this from scratch all along!
First, you will juice your lemons. If you only have a hand juicer that will work just fine, but if you love making your own homemade fruit drinks I would invest in this electric juicer. I bought this Dash Juicer on Amazon a few years ago and for the price it’s an awesome little gadget! Saves so much time and I also use it to juice lemons and limes for cheesecakes and other desserts.
Next, just mix your sugar and lemon juice in the Instant Pot. You will set to pressure cook for 1 minute, but adding in the pressurizing time actually takes closer to 20 minutes. As soon as it’s done you can manually release the pressure, remove lid, and allow to cool.
The syrup will thicken as it cools. Allow to cool to close to room temp (warm is fine) and transfer with a kitchen funnel into a container with lid.
The syrup can be used immediately just like for stovetop lemonade, but it’s recommended to allow to sit for at least 4-6 hours in the fridge. This will allow the flavors to develop and the syrup to cool down entirely.
Finally, mix with ice and water when you’re ready to serve. The nice thing about this recipe is that it will keep in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. As with any mixture containing fruit, use the syrup within a few days for best results and food safety.

- 2 cups of lemon juice, 8-10 lemons squeezed
- 2 cups of sugar
- 5 cups of water
1. Add lemon juice and sugar to instant pot. If fresh squeezed, make sure juice
is poured through a strainer to prevent pulp and seeds.
2. Seal instant pot lid and pressure valve and cook on high pressure for 1
minute. Will take 20 minutes to build pressure.
3. Manually release pressure once done and pour into a jar to chill overnight or 4-6 hours in the refrigerator.
4. Once chilled into a syrup, fill pitcher with ice and water as well as some
lemon slices for extra flavor and add tablespoon of syrup at a time to taste. 2-3 tablespoons on average.
You can also make the syrup on the stovetop if you don't have an Instant Pot:
Bring the first two ingredients to a gentle boil, in a medium sauce pan.
Turn heat to medium low, and stir often to dissolve sugar. Boil gently until all sugar is dissolved and mixture is transparent, about 5 minutes.
Pour syrup into a refrigerator-safe container, after it has cooled down.
Continue with step 4 and enjoy!
