Christmas Morning Hot Chocolate

This hot chocolate is soooooo good! It's a great treat for Christmas morning! I've made it before in a pot or in a slow cooker. If you've never had homemade hot chocolate like this then you are really missing out!

(P.S. I never said that this was healthy! lol, It's a nice treat, but I wouldn't recommend drinking a glass of this everyday!)

What is the Difference Between Hot Cocoa and Hot Chocolate

The terms “hot cocoa” and “hot chocolate” are often used interchangeably, but there are subtle differences between the two:

  1. Ingredients:
    • Hot Cocoa: Hot cocoa is typically made from cocoa powder, sugar, and milk. It's a lighter beverage with a more delicate chocolate flavor.
    • Hot Chocolate: Hot chocolate, on the other hand, is made from melted chocolate or chocolate bars combined with milk or cream. It tends to be richer and creamier than hot cocoa due to the use of actual chocolate.
  2. Cocoa Content:
    • Hot Cocoa: Uses cocoa powder, which has a lower fat content because it's made by removing most of the cocoa butter from the ground cacao beans. It's often mixed with sugar and sometimes a small amount of cocoa butter.
    • Hot Chocolate: Uses real chocolate, which contains cocoa solids and cocoa butter. This results in a beverage with a higher fat content and a richer, more intense chocolate flavor.
  3. Taste and Texture:
    • Hot Cocoa: Has a lighter and more subtle chocolate flavor. It's usually smoother and less creamy compared to hot chocolate.
    • Hot Chocolate: Tends to be thicker, creamier, and richer in flavor due to the use of melted chocolate. It has a more pronounced chocolate taste and a velvety texture.
